Support NGT

On April 29th, The Next Generation Technology High School proposal will come to a vote at the Panel for Education Policy Meeting taking place at 6PM at M.S. 131 (100 Hester Street). In preparation for this meeting there are several things you can do to support our opening!

ONE

Follow us.png

Step 1

Start off by following the Next Gen Tech instagram page. After you visit, be sure to like and comment on our posts. This public facing forum is regularly visited by many of our stakeholders and a postive social media presence communicates interest in the school proposal.

TWO

Step 2

Sign our petition. This is not just a measure of interest, it is a statement of belief that students in New York City deserve access to rigorous, future-facing, and ethical technology education. Your signature helps demonstrate both demand for this school and commitment to the cause behind it.

THREE

Help us advocate for the opening of Next Generation Technology High School by sending an email to the Chancellor, Panel for Education Policy members, and Citywide Council members. We encourage both students and parents to participate. Your email does not need to be formal or complicated. It just needs to be sincere.

You can share why this school matters to you, why NYC students need stronger access to technology education, or why ethical learning in computer science, coding, and innovation is important for the future. A few honest sentences can make a real difference.

Step 3

FOUR

Step 4

Join the Virtual Joint Public Hearing and Provide Open Comment

Joint Public Hearing - open comment

Tuesday, April 14th @6PM

Join the April 14 Joint Public Hearing and make your voice heard in support of Next Generation Technology High School. Public comment is one of the most powerful ways students, parents, educators, and community members can help show that this school matters.

Your comment does not need to be long or formal. It just needs to be sincere. In two minutes, you can help decision-makers understand that New York City students deserve a rigorous public high school built around advanced math, computer science, ethical technological literacy, and real-world opportunity.

You might speak about why students need more than surface-level exposure to technology. You might explain that Next Gen Tech would help students understand how technology works, evaluate its consequences, and build with it responsibly. You might also share why a citywide school like this matters for families across the five boroughs, or why New York City should lead in future-facing public education rather than fall behind.

For example, you could say:

“I support Next Generation Technology High School because NYC students deserve a public school that prepares them for the future of technology in a serious and ethical way.”

Or:

“This school is not just about using technology. It is about helping students learn the math, coding, computer science, and critical thinking behind the systems shaping our world.”

Or:

“I want New York City to approve Next Gen Tech because students from all backgrounds deserve access to advanced, future-facing public education.”

FIVE

Step 5

MOST IMPORTANT - Join the Panel for Education Policy Meeting and Provide Comment in Support of NGT

Panel for Education Policy Meeting

April 29th, 6PM

M.S. 131 - 100 Hester Street

The April 29 Panel for Education Policy meeting is the most important, high-leverage action we can take in support of Next Generation Technology High School.

The panel will vote on whether to approve our school, and showing up in person matters.

The meeting begins at 6:00 PM at M.S. 131 at 100 Hester Street.

Students can provide open comment right at the start of the meeting as the first item on the agenda. Parents and families can also speak later during the agenda item and again during public comment. This gives our community multiple opportunities to be heard.

We strongly encourage students, parents, families, educators, and supporters to attend. Your message does not need to be long or complicated. A sincere statement about why New York City students deserve a rigorous, future-facing public school built on advanced math, computer science, ethics, and responsible innovation can make a real difference.

There are also voices advocating for a different use of the proposed space, which makes it especially important for supporters of Next Gen Tech to show up respectfully and clearly. We believe this location makes strong sense for a citywide school because it is highly accessible by major train lines, and interest and applications for Next Gen Tech already reflects families from every borough and every school district across New York City.

This is a moment to help decision-makers see the depth of support behind this school and the broad need it is designed to meet. If you believe students should have access to a public school that teaches them not just to use technology, but to understand it, question it, and build with it responsibly, please stand with us on April 29.
